DESIGNER (m/f/d)
The designer supports design management in the product design and development of all KINNLS products.
The focus of this position is on textile and technical design as well as product development.
The designer accompanies all products throughout the entire Product Design & Development (PD&D) process in close collaboration with the sourcing team to ensure design accuracy and integrity at all development stages.
Design tasks

Development of original designs based on the creative guidelines of design management for products such as rugs, bedding, home textiles, beach and bath items

Strong sense of color as well as precise and effective communication of feedback for seasonal collections

Comprehensive development review and quality control of all textile categories

Passing on product-specific details and design inspirations to web, textile, and merchandising teams

Supporting the CDO and design management by researching artwork, developing color variants, and compiling inspirational materials for seasonal concepts

Flexible and quick response to changing strategies and requirements

Preserving KINNLS brand identity through independent designs while continuously evolving the brand aesthetic

High self-motivation to advance products from the initial concept to post-production

Maintenance and further development of the textile library as well as continuous research of new materials and innovations
Production & Development
-
Creation of precise technical specifications with Adobe Illustrator and Backbone

Responsibility for handing over the bills of materials (BOM) from design to the sourcing team

Independent management of the PD&D process – from BOM through sample development to mass production

Communication with factories and agents to ensure design and product integrity during production

Collaboration with CAD and specification designers in construction and revision for production purposes
-
Creation and maintenance of seasonal BOM documentation as well as support of all development processes

Adherence to and tracking of schedules, milestones, and changes

Requirements
-
3–5 years of professional experience in textile design and development
-
Solid knowledge of the home textile industry, materials, and processing techniques
-
Very good knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and Excel
-
Completed degree (BA) in textile design, product design, or equivalent
-
Experience in textile prototyping is an advantage (e.g., knitting, embroidery, appliqués, artisanal techniques)
-
On-site work in Sausalito, California required – no remote position
