The History of KINNLS
The story of KINNLS goes back to 1997. What once started as a small furniture workshop developed over time into a modern furniture production that adapted to the growth and changing demands of the US market.
If you want to know how it all began, we have to go back to the late 1990s. That’s when the Kirkconnell family business was founded in a small town in California. Kenan Kirkconnell helped his father early on in his small carpentry shop. At first, he took on simple helper tasks and did not yet have any special craft or technical skills.
Over the years, however, he realized that he wanted to achieve more and follow his own path. With his father’s consent, he went abroad to study business administration. After completing his studies, Kenan returned directly to his homeland—with a clear vision: from that moment on, he wanted to build his own furniture brand.
After Kenan talked about his idea with his father, he received his full support. From that point on, the entrepreneurial story of KINNLS began: together with his father and brother, he laid the foundation for the brand. While his father and brother were mainly responsible for manufacturing the products, Kenan took care of building sales channels and selling.
Due to limited production capacity, KINNLS initially focused exclusively on office chairs. Precisely because the product range was still small at first, the company placed great importance from the start on strict requirements for material selection, design, and workmanship. In the early years, the chairs were mainly sold within the state and in some neighboring regions.
In the 1990s, the furniture market began to change noticeably. KINNLS recognized this shift early and started in 1997 to specifically distribute its products through brick-and-mortar retail. The company focused on integrating more technology and service into the offline sales experience so that customers could better experience products and services before purchasing.
With further technological progress and the increasing spread of the internet, Kenan realized that it was not enough to limit himself to a few regional markets. That’s why KINNLS began offering its products online as well. At the same time, the product range was gradually expanded: in addition to office chairs, desks, cabinets, shelves, lighting solutions, and other products were added. This is how KINNLS gradually developed into the brand it is today.
